Distribution: SC and SE Europe; forests. 

Perennial 30-70 cm tall. Leaves ternate and segmented. Flower solitary, terminal, red or dark red. Fl. late V-VI.

 

Verbreitung: SC und SE Europa; Wälder.

 

Staude 30-70 cm hoch. Blätter ternate und segmentierte. Blüten einsam, rot oder dunkelrot. Bl. Ende V-VI. 

Distribution: mountains of Europe, C and E Asia and North America, 1200-2200 m above sea level; moist grassy slopes, streamsides, shaded moist places in valleys. 

Perennial 5-40 cm in tall. Basal leaves in rosettes, stem leaf 1. Flowers solitary, terminal, 22-35 mm in diameter, white, often purple punctate. Fl. VII-IX.

Dwarf shrub 6-10 cm tall. Flowers to 25 mm long, pale violet with white throat. Fl. summer.

 

Zwergstrauch 6-10 cm hoch. Blumen bis 25 mm lang, hellviolett mit weißem Hals. Blütezeit Sommer.

Distribution: Washington; basalt cliffs. 

Mat-forming shrublet, up to 20 cm across in about 10 years. Leaves rosetted towards the stem tips, spathulate. Racemes above leaves. Flowers white. Fl. early to late summer. 

Distribution: disjunctive in mountains in area from Austria to C formerly Jugoslavia, 2000-3100 m; moist soil over acidic base.  

Tufted perennial. Leaves in rosette. Scapes 1.5-9 cm long. Umbels 1-8-flowered, atop the scapes. Flowers deep violet, whitish in throat, with darker area around throat, fragrant. Fl. V-VI. Not easy in culture!

Distribution: Central Alps and Pyrenees, 1500-3000 m above sea level; near snow patches and wet turf on acid soils. 

Perennial 1-5 cm high forming carpet. Flowers usually in pairs, 15-25 mm across, pinkish to purplish-lilac. Fl. spring. 

 

Geographische Verbreitung: Zentralalpen und Pyrenäen, 1500-3000 m über dem Meeresspiegel;  Schneetälchen und nasse Rasen auf sauren Böden.

 

Staude 1-5 cm hoch. Blüten in der Regel paarweise, 15-25 mm breit, rosa bis violettlila. Blütezeit Frühling.
